The Best Naarm / Melbourne Electronic Music Clubs

The Best Naarm / Melbourne Electronic Music Clubs
With an enviable selection of venues and a diverse, thriving scene, it’s hard to look past Melbourne as the country’s club capital.

It’s a city where it’s easy to hop from club to club, from enduring places like Revolver Upstairs, to newer venues such as Miscellania and Angel Music Bar.

Whatever you’re looking for in a nightclub, Melbourne is a place where you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Revolver Upstairs
The infamous Revs is often the centre of many a wild tale, thanks to the fact it runs near non-stop on the weekend (it closes for a few hours on Saturday). At Revs there are DJs playing mainly house and tech house, but does it even matter? You’ll probably wind up here anyway.

Miscellania
One of Melbourne’s newer clubs is already the spot to see how diverse the city’s electronic music community can be. Each week rotates between different organisers playing techno, experimental, afrobeats, or other music you won’t hear elsewhere.

Angel Music Bar
More like a bar with a nice soundsystem than a club, Angel Music Bar has great cocktails and DJs playing house and disco till very late. While upstairs events are usually paid, there’s no cover if you want to grab a cocktail at the bar on the ground floor.

The Gasometer Hotel
The Gaso hosts plenty of live bands in the evening, but after all that you can find club events
ranging from house, techno, garage and R&B. Best to keep an eye on their website for what’s on.
A sprawling nightclub over two floors, Xe54 hosts internationals and local DJs playing primarily house and techno on a weekly basis. Like to get lost in lights and smoke? Here’s the place to be.

New Guernica
Another Melbourne icon, New Guernica has been hosting techno, house and disco events for yonks. Now based in Collingwood, the multiroom venue is still as reliable as ever for good night out.

Glamorama
An intimate space featuring a top-tier Funktion One soundsystem, Glamorama has regular house and techno events on the Friday and Saturday. A great spot if you’re northside and don’t want to wander too far into the city.
Sub Club
As the name perhaps gives away, Sub Club is an underground space with a thumping soundsystem just off Flinders Street. Expect a wide array of genres including techno, house, disco, and drum and bass.

The Toff
Nestled in the middle of the towering Curtin House building, The Toff has long been a cool little spot to check out all sorts of club music, from house, disco, hard dance and more.
